Beside SVG makes such thing relatively easy thanks to foreign objects. I know this is 'cool' from webdev's perspective but come on! Real people don't care if it's standards compliant, w3c, css 4.1 or whatever. we've got the tools to make nice animations, transformations and other gfx.
