I got away from the almost too minimalistic theme, while still keeping the nice graphics of myself presenting at both sides.

WordPress now runs from SVN (so, 2.8 bleeding edge now, and yeah, it uses jQuery UI!)

I updated the RSS 2 feed to use FeedBurner, so I know about who’s actually reading my feeds.

I integrated a lifestream consisting mostly of Twitter updates into the sidebar.

I removed old and added new projects to the “Projects” Section.

I added convenient links to the sidebar to connect via LinkedIn / Twitter or SlideShare.

And finally, I re-introduced the laboratory, a link collection pointing to experimental stuff I made.

After the great success of my trip to Tokyo in May (thanks to my friend Yusuke!), I have been thinking a lot of how to better promote jQuery and jQuery UI over there. Usually, american products have a hard time in Japan because of the language barrier, and the easiest way to overcome this is to simply be in Japan!

So here’s my idea: To every japanese company interested, I will give free workshops about jQuery and jQuery UI to employees/staff. In exchange, they will cover a small part of my travel budget.

So,

If you live and work in Japan

And your company uses jQuery/jQuery UI or wants to use it

write me an email (paul.bakaus@gmail.com)

and we’ll discuss everything. I’m really excited about this idea, and it would be awesome if it works out. The same might happen in Brasil soon for another jQuery UI developer, which brang me the idea again.

Mata ne!

I’ve recently upgraded my blog and tweaked it a bit, and decided to try out a plugin called Gengo, which enables multilanguage blogging.

It works like this: If you go to paulbakaus.com, the plugin will detect your locale and tries to fetch the blog post you want to read in your default language. If it doesn’t exist (so it’s not translated), you will simply see the english version. For example, this blog entry will be written in German if you use a german locale.

I plan on having copies of my posts in German and Japanese. Japanese is especially important, since there’s a big language barrier, and I really want my posts to be read over there

If you’re willing to help me translate or maybe add another language, please feel free to leave a comment or get in touch with me via email, and we can work out details.

Cheers,
Paul

Yes, it seems the blog is back alive again – however, I decided to setup a clean, fresh copy of wordpress, without migrating the old and outdated last blog entries (I hope I wont have to do that again).

The reason I had to setup the blog again and again was the fact that my vhost was killed by stupid spam bots from time to time, I didn’t know why it happenend, so I had to wipe it everytime..that sucks.

Anyway, let’s hope this one lasts longer, happy reading
